Liz Buhl Thubron

Home is a feeling, not a place – after moving over a dozen times I realize home is a sense of belonging. I’m technically British/Danish but was born and raised in Belgium, and have since lived in Edinburgh, London, Copenhagen, Dubai, Istanbul.

With a “water lily life” comes frequent culture “shocks” (and reverse culture shocks), yet I feel most at home when surrounded by diverse nationalities, cultures, backgrounds and mindsets – when differences are embraced & celebrated.

​

I joined Novo Nordisk after finishing my PhD in Neuroscience in London, and spent 2 years in the graduate programme, during which I worked in regulatory departments across Søborg HQ and the regional Dubai office. Afterwards, I worked in HQ and then moved to Istanbul for 2 years to manage regulatory affairs across the Middle East & Africa. It was there (Istanbul) that I pitched to NovoNations to have the first ex-Denmark NovoNations hub, which is now being rolled out for internationals and locals.

I’m now back in Copenhagen to work for International Operations, and jumped at the opportunity to join the NovoNations Board to further develop our partnerships & hubs!

As a Director, Liz helps to expand NovoNations’ outreach among internal and external Novo Nordisk sites with the goal of initiating more NovoNations hubs at all Novo Nordisk sites around the globe. Liz also aims to improve the onboarding process for new international hires by providing more advice and clarity on what it is like to work and live in Denmark.
